César de Melo was born in Lisbon. After studying economics at high school, he spent a year in England where he entered the world of film production. It was at this stage that he developed his passion for telling stories through the medium of images.

After returning to Portugal, he studied Communication and Image for three years.

After film school, he interned with GO-S TV, a production company dedicated to skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding and music. From here César was hired to work as a video editor and later on also as a cameraman.

Passion has no limits and soon César began to complement his video work with motion design.

With CTT - Correios de Portugal, BP (British Petroleum) and Sporting football club as his customers, César increasingly deepened his knowledge and experience in the various dimensions of image creation.

During this period, he produced content for BP's annual conventions, several internal campaigns for CTT - Correios de Portugal, and also became a coordinator at the José de Alvalade Stadium, where his mission was to lead a team that was responsible for all the audiovisual content at the stadium on match days.

With CTT - Correios de Portugal, in 2012, 2014 and 2015 César won the award for best corporate television, awarded by APCE - Portuguese Association of Corporate Communication. He made his television debut through Terra Liquida Filmes where he was hired to do motion design for the Universidade Aberta program. There he also had the opportunity to be part of a project for Coca-Cola, receiving the “Best Social Media Campaign” award form Sapo Awards.

During this time, he developed a parallel interest in street photography. The fascination with people and the way they come across as a part of a living and changing organism makes this the best way to explore, observe and capture precious moments through the medium of photography.

In 2017 he was invited by David Gibson to be part of the book “100 Great Street Photographs”, published by Prestel.
